Kintyre Youth Enquiry Service

Kintyre Youth Enquiry Service (KYES) is a recognised Scottish Charity, number SC 092348.  Constituted in 1999, the project addresses difficulties faced by young people living in Kintyre.  KYES provides a safe environment for young people aged between 12 and 25 to enable them to fulfil their potential, through access to information, training and activates.

KYES believes that all young people should have the same opportunities in life regardless of their location and background.  Young people in Kintyre are disadvantaged through geographical isolation, lack of access to employment, training opportunities, further education, and cultural activities.  Their difficulties are compounded by poor transport facilities and a predominant alcohol culture and a small but decreasing drug problem.

All enquiries are recorded on a confidential database.  The project employs two full time and four part time workers.  it operates from a shop front base but is flexible enough to cover the whole of Kintyre.  Work placements are to the young people through our local secondary school, particularly those disaffected from mainstream education, we offer Get Ready for Work, Future Jobs and New Deal Placements.
